What is an AI keyboard?
An AI keyboard is a keyboard you install on your iPhone that can rewrite what you type with AI. PromptPad AI Keyboard adds shortcut buttons above the keys: type your message, tap a shortcut such as Fix Grammar or Make Formal, and the text in the field is rewritten in place.
Does PromptPad work in every app?
It works in any app that allows third-party keyboards, including Messages, Mail, WhatsApp, Slack, Gmail, LinkedIn and Notes. iOS always switches to the Apple keyboard in password fields, and some apps choose to block third-party keyboards.
Is my text private?
In on-device mode your text never leaves your iPhone. In cloud mode the text is sent to a cloud AI model (currently from OpenAI) to produce the result and then discarded. PromptPad does not store or log it, and no account is required.
Does it need Apple Intelligence?
No. Cloud mode works on iPhones without Apple Intelligence. On-device mode uses Apple Intelligence, which needs iOS 26 and a supported iPhone. It is free, unlimited and works offline.
Which languages does the keyboard support?
The keyboard types in 9 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Arabic and Persian. Results come back in the language you wrote in, and a Translate shortcut can switch languages. The app's own screens are in English.
Is PromptPad free?
Yes, to start. The free plan includes 4 shortcuts, 20 cloud AI runs, unlimited on-device runs and 2 of the 9 keyboard languages. Pro makes everything unlimited, billed monthly or yearly, and the yearly plan has a 1-week free trial.
How is it different from Grammarly or Apple Writing Tools?
Grammarly focuses on correctness: it flags mistakes as you type and explains them, and it is strong at that. Apple Writing Tools gives you Apple's built-in rewrite and proofread actions for free on iPhones with Apple Intelligence. PromptPad is for changing tone and intent with shortcuts you define yourself, in one tap from the keyboard, with a preview before anything changes. It also works on iPhones without Apple Intelligence.
